Twitter Archive Download Is Back! [September 2020]
Twitter disabled the functionality to download the archive data back in July after the security incident which resulted in Twitter archive data from 7 high profile users to be downloaded. As a result, the Twitter archive data download feature was disabled and users were left in disarray over not being able to access this data.
This was particularly an issue for users who delete their old data regularly with tools like Twitter Archive Eraser. Twitter Archive Eraser added the option to fetch tweets using the Twitter API, but as we know this is limited to the last ~3200 tweets or so. This feature was introduced to unblock users who are adamant about deleting their tweets while waiting for the archive download feature to be available again.
The wait is over however, Twitter announced yesterday that downloading the Twitter archive data is available again.
Head over to Twitter Archive Eraser now, and start deleting tweets. You can delete thousands of tweets in one shot, no matter how old they are, even from are from +12 years ago!
